When KIVI Channel 6 anchor Lincoln Graves approached me a couple months ago in regard to a hot springs venture, I was hesitant. In the same way that I am regarding IdahoHotSprings.com and this blog. Believe it or not, it's not my intention to drive large amounts of people to hot springs. It's actually to educate newbie and veteran soakers alike. However, after I was able to talk with Lincoln, I found out it was for a special segement called " Idaho Green Living ", and that I could talk about... Read Full Story
I was excited for my 200 geocaching finds milestone. The virtual cache at the summit of Mount San Jacinto was going to be the perfect opportunity for a memorable experience. This trip did not disappoint! The In-Laws are in town and The Kids stayed with them. The Wife and I left the house around 6:45 AM and made the one hour drive to the Palm Springs Ariel Tramway . There was no one in line and we were quickly at the loading area for the next tram. We made up two of the three total passengers... Read Full Story
Sunshine and 80 degrees on a mid-October Sunday means a day for hiking in the woods , and so we did. The Town of Perinton's Crescent Trail presents a moderate short-hike challenge and a couple of spectacular hilltop views. We forgot to grab a map from the town rec center, and so had to climb first to the top of the first hill (very steep) to snap a picture of the one posted there. Once we had our bearings we set out deeper into the woods to seek the Scenic View marked for the summit of... Read Full Story
Hubbard Park in Meriden offers hikers the opportunity to hike to one of the highest peaks in the east within 25 miles of the Atlantic. Castle Craig, and the spectacular views of the central Connecticut valley await. The castle can be accessed via several trails starting in Hubbard Park. It is also part of the blue blazed Metacomet Trail. For those that make the climb, they will be rewarded with views that span from Massachusetts to the north to Long Island to the south. It is quite... Read Full Story
Another sunny Swiss day, and we decided to make the hike to this popular mountain Cabane outside Zinal. The route up to the Cabane is a trail, but there are variations, so as the main trail was quite busy we turned off onto a narrow path through the trees. The scenery is quite amazing with plenty to draw they eye, which, of course, adds to the hike time. The trail we chose was quite steep in places, with chains to grab on the steepest rocky parts. Of course, we had wondered about all the... Read Full Story

Short trip report this time: In a nutshell - a badass trip because of low trash, clean pools and friendly soakers. Usually, a trip to Skinny means hauling down at least a couple bags of trash. Rating A+

Skinnydipper, AKA Mile Marker 4/Deer Creek Hot Springs, is one of just a handful of hot springs that are within 1-2 hours from Boise, Idaho. Drive time from Boise is approximately 1 hour. Skinnydipper is Idaho's most recent hot springs discovery. In the 1990s, Hot Springs Harley found and cultivated the hot springs with Keeper Ken's help into what it is today. The .25 mile hike up from the Banks-Lowman Highway pullout is steep and treacherous at times. A loose-knit group of volunteers... Read Full Story
I have to confess that I have a soft spot for Beech trees and their leaves. They aren't the most colourful of leaves, but I just love the pale green and yellow and I don't think you can beat them on a beautiful sunny Autumn day like today's , they just glow. My walk in the woods today was in Abbey Woods, this is a wood that surrounds the ruined Haughmond Abbey , just outside of Shrewsbury ,Shropshire. Abbey wood is mainly a mixed deciduous wood, with plenty of beech, oak, horse chestnut and... Read Full Story

Hiking (also known as Hill walking in Britain) is one of the most basic forms of recreational sightseeing available. It can be a great way to explore while on holiday or even your own country.
Hiking is widely regarded as one of the best forms of sightseeing as you get a completely unhampered experience. There is no form of transport to speed you through the landscape or distract you. It’s just you and your group making your own way through the route while enjoying the experience... Read Full Story
