DeLonghi ESAM3500.N Magnifica Digital Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine This is my second DeLonghi Magnifica Digital Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine I have owned within the last 2 years. I got my first model 4500 from Starbucks and it lasted about 2 years. My warranty expired on my old machine so I bought this one on Amazon. I have checked all the online vendors and Amazon has the best price on this machine. Free shipping and no taxes saves you about $250. I found this machine on Ebay for less but DeLonghi will not honor Warranty service on Ebay stores. So beware. DeLonghi customer service has been top ... Read Full Story

Pocket-Lint.com came up with a good review of the Lavazza A Modo Mio coffee machine . About its style Pocket-Lint.com says: As for styling the Mio is undoubtedly retro, but the cute curves, high-gloss two-tone finish in silver with red, black or white mean it will sit happily in the sleekest of modern kitchens. The plastic body construction isn’t the best – the Nespresso models we’ve tried feel substantially more robust – but it’s sturdy enough not to look cheap. Usually the Achilles heel of budget coffee makers this steam arm was surprisingly simple to use and heated/frothed milk with a satisfying whoosh and ... Read Full Story

Breville 800ESXL Commercial 15-Bar Triple-Priming Die-Cast Espresso Machine After all the recommendations I read about this espresso machine, I was disappointed. I liked some of basic style of the machine, but it did not make as strong of espresso that I prefer for a latte. It had a manual on/off for pulling a shot and even doubling the volume still left it weak flavor. My old Sienna from Starbucks had an option for a double shot that was just a push of the button and it automatically shut off. Frother did not create a good amount of foam, it was barely frothy. My old ... Read Full Story

DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine I've had this machine for over 3 years now and have used it daily with whole beans only (self imported from Brazil or Vivace from Seattle). Makes a decent espresso every time. I've never had to do any maintenance on it except for a weekly 1 min cleaning. I only wish that it could make a stronger espresso shot. I always have it the on max setting, but the espresso comes out slightly on the watery side. Still much better than starbucks and cheaper in the long run, but doesn't compare to the high end coffee joints like ... Read Full Story

I will take a break from my on going technology theme and get into something that is dear to (almost) everyone in technology: coffee. I like to drink coffee, mostly espresso - which in New Zealand is sometimes called short black, but in some places ordering an espresso can just give you a ristretto. Anyway,  I used to have an espresso machine at home but lately I have been converted to Nespresso machines. The coffee is actually good...

It's a shame that the oh-so-necessary nozzles to release the coffee will spoil the "cavity" shape. Nespresso's cute little bolt-loading cartridges would be a great fit with the Iron Man thang though. #coffee Sockatume

Who knew that the real power source driving Iron Man onward and upward into the stratosphere was really just a strong, trendy espresso machine? Designed by Frenchman Charles Teyssier, the "Caffe Inn" concept is purely aesthetic, offering little in the way of improvements on the tried and true espresso machine formula. It does, however, remind me of Iron Man, and that's enough. [Design Blog]
