Dirk Nowitzki scored 28 points as Jason Kidd added 22 and 11 assists to help the Mavericks (13-5) hold off a determined 76ers charge. Kidd passed off seven assists to reach 10,337 for his career, three ahead of Mark Jackson and now trailing only the NBA-record 15,806 of retired Utah star John Stockton. Kidd made seven assists to move to 10,337 and pass Mark Jackson (10,334) on the list, though he still trails John Stockton (15,806), as the Southwest division leading Mavericks (11-4) continued their strong start to the season. Dirk Nowitzki scored 32 points then was ejected for arguing a call in the fourth quarter of the Dallas Mavericks' 98-94 preseason victory over the Houston Rockets on Friday night.
