Hope Solo is a goal keeper for the US Women's Soccer Team. She was pulled from a game in the semis that ended in a 4-0 loss to Brazil in the World Cup. She then gave a press interview where she heavily criticized head coach Greg Ryan and replacement goal keeper Brianna Scurry. The video has sparked a debate about sportsmanship and team spirit.

Despite this unfortunate outburst, Hope Solo is one of the best female goal keepers in the sport.

US Team shuns Hope Solo, wins 3rd without her

The US Women's Soccer Team decided not to allow Hope Solo back into play after her outburst to the media.  Solo publically criticized the coach and replacement goalie Scurry after the US loss to Brazil.  Solo had been pulled from the game prior to the loss. The US Team won their final game without Hope Solo and took 3rd place in the tournament. Hope Solo's outburst was considered unacceptable, and the older athletes on the team decided that she should not play in Sunday's game and should be isolated from her team and grounded in her hotel room. This week has been a vocal one for sports. Milton Bradley blamed his coach for his knee injury, a statement I disagree with. OSU's Mike Gundy blasted the media and spent his entire interview speaking up for his players! And then Hope Solo blasted Brianna Scurry and Coach Greg Ryan. Hope Solo is correct in everything she said, however she should have left Brianna out of the sound bite. Brianna played her game and it wasn't enough. It was a painful loss to Brazil . 4-0, that's a beat down. The US Women's Soccer Team had a very very bad day, and it was made worse by the fact that Hope Solo was caught on video yelling about head coach Greg Ryan who pulled her out of the game and replaced her with Brianna Scurry. Poor spirit. I'm sure that every woman on the team felt down and perhaps a bit angry about the game, but that is no excuse for Hope Solo to bash her coach and another teammate. Read Full Story
