Hope Solo is a goal keeper for the US Women's Soccer Team. She was pulled from a game in the semis that ended in a 4-0 loss to Brazil in the World Cup. She then gave a press interview where she heavily criticized head coach Greg Ryan and replacement goal keeper Brianna Scurry. The video has sparked a debate about sportsmanship and team spirit.
Despite this unfortunate outburst, Hope Solo is one of the best female goal keepers in the sport.
They Said It
This week has been a vocal one for sports. Milton Bradley blamed his coach for his knee injury, a statement I disagree with. OSU's Mike Gundy blasted the media and spent his entire interview speaking up for his players! And then Hope Solo blasted Brianna Scurry and Coach Greg Ryan.
Hope Solo is correct in everything she said, however she should have left Brianna out of the sound bite. Brianna played her game and it wasn't enough. The person who chose to play Scurry, Coach Greg Ryan, is the person at fault. Listen in:

Milton Bradley is unprofessional and incorrect in his accusation of Bud Blacke, and needs to be disciplined for it. Listen to the piece and then view my previous article on the issue. Bud Black never threw his player on the ground. Bradley should have handled this within the locker room.
The best outburst of the year and the one that deserves the most attention is OSU's Mike Gundy. Mike pumped his team up like no other with what he has shown them this week. Watch out if you are a OSU opponent!
