A community portal about Hubble Space Telescope with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: The Hubble Space Telescope is a telescope in orbit around the Earth, named after astronomer Edwin Hubble for his discovery of galaxies outside the Milky Way and his creation of Hubble's Law, which calculates the rate at which the universe is expanding. Its position outside the Earth's atmosphere allows it to take sharp optical images of very faint objects, and since its launch in 1990, it has become one of the most important instruments in the history of astronomy. It has been responsible for many ground-breaking observations and has helped astronomers achieve a better understanding of many fundamental problems in astrophysics. Hubble's Ultra Deep Field is the deepest astronomical optical image ever taken.
The hunt for extraterrestrial life is getting a major boost from revolutionary new technology that will give some of the world's largest telescopes the capability to detect Earth-size planets outside of our solar system, a feat not equaled even by the Hubble Space Telescope.
The technique...
CSC announced today it will continue to support NASA's Hubble Space Telescope Program under a new agreement with the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy Inc.
NASA will host a media teleconference at 12:30 p.m. EDT, Tuesday, Oct. 14, to brief reporters about the status of efforts to revive the data handling unit that failed on the Hubble Space Telescope in late-September.

The Hubble Space Telescope is amazing. I don't throw out compliments like that freely. I'm not a NASA fanboy. Hubble has changed astronomy and unlocked secrets we could have never imagined. If that was the whole story Hubble would be impressive. Yet Hubble's real strength is its designed...
