The metal menaces were due to feature in X2 but had to be cut from the script because they would be too expensive. Craig and Jackman, both 41, offered to sell off the vests they wore for a performance of their play A Steady Rain.
The vests were sold to two women for US$3,500 (£2,100) each and the money raised will go to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, which provides services for people with Aids and other illnesses across the US.
