As much as America wanted to blame everything from 9/11 to Ryan Seacrest on Middle-Eastern Islamic terrorists, we knew we couldn't. But the anthrax deal? C'mon, it totally had to be some dirty mud person from the middle east who "hates our freedom" and prays to that one "God" named "Allah," whose dick is smaller than my God.

Today it turns out that it was an American, who worked for the government, no less.

Bruce E. Ivins, and army scientist working at the Army's biodefense labs at Ft. Detrick, Md committed suicide today, after learning of the impending indictment authorities were drafting against him for the 2001 mailings of anthrax powder. Apparently he had been working on a vaccine to protect against the toxin, and as his lawery states, the mailing were connected to that research:

"We assert his innocence in these killings, and would have established that at trial."

I find it interesting that it took 7 years to get to the bottom of this. In the meantime, playing off the fear and mindless allegiance that events like these induced, the Bush administration led us into a self-destructive war in Iraq, passed the Patriot Act, marginalized an entire segment of the population, and ruined the credibility of our nation, to name a few.

I guess convenience supercedes justice.
