Just 4.5 games out of 1st place and the deadline approaching, what is Cash-Man to do to make the Yanks better equipped to make the postseason? While Brian has definitely shown a potentially unhealthy love for the depth of our minor leagues (pitching, anyway), it's time to be realistic and trade away some of those kids while their value is high and before they potentially get exposed. Some of the kids I would trade - Phil Coke (26, AA)- One of the few lefties in the Yankee organization, Coke is 9-4 with a 2.60 ERA. Eric Wordekemper (25, AA) - Righty reliever has a ... FROM NEWSDAY : Ian Kennedy , who is 0-2 with an 8.37 ERA, said he was surprised by the demotion, which had been speculated about since his last subpar outing Thursday. He said Saturday he "shouldn't be" the one to go down. The Yankees took a few days to decide that Kennedy, who has allowed 28 hits and 20 walks in 22 innings, would be better off in the minors than staying in the rotation or skipping a start or pitching out of the bullpen. KENNEDY ON THE SET BACK: "I can't say I'm happy about it," Kennedy said. "I feel like I was ... Read Full Story

FROM George A. King III : New York Yankees ’ fans will not see Kei Igawa the sequel, at least not any time soon. Ian Kennedy will be called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to pitch Thursday against the Rays. Kennedy will start for SWB tonight in Indianapolis in the first game of a doubleheader, but likely will be restricted to one inning so he can be ready to pitch Thursday. IMO, very good news. He has better stuff, he's pitched in the U.S. long enough. Igawa does not make a right ''fit'' here. Kennedy's control is pretty good he just needs to be able ... Read Full Story

Jon Heyman is tweeting that the three-way trade between the Yankees, Tigers and Diamondbacks is a go, pending medicals on the players concerned. The Yankees get Curtis Granderson, the Diamondbacks get Edwin Jackson and Ian Jackson, and the Tigers get Max Scherzer, Daniel Schlereth and a couple of Yankees players. Steve Gilbert also says, "Looks like the three-way trade is going to happen," so that's good enough for me. Edwin Jackson is 26 and...

According to Jon Heyman, the deal is pretty much done. Last I heard, the Yankees are giving up No. 2 prospect Austin Jackson, lefty reliever Phil Coke, and Ian Kennedy for the All-Star center fielder.  The Arizona Diamondbacks will be giving up Max Scherzer and Daniel Schlereth in the deal and receive Ian Kennedy and Edwin Jackson in return. The Tigers will obtain Scherzer, Schlereth, Jackson, and Coke in the deal. Curtis Granderson had...
