FTC Extends Compliance Date for "Red Flags Rule" to May 1, 2009

The FTC recently announced a six month reprieve on the original compliance date for the new identity theft "Red Flags Rule". The Rules mandate financial institutions and "creditors" set up and enforce written plans for identifying "red flag" transactions that could indicate identity theft or fraud.
