A place to share news, opinions, and ideas about life in Iloilo. According ro Wikipedia, Iloilo is a province of the Philippines located in the Western Visayas region. Its capital is Iloilo City and is located at the southeast portion of Panay Island, bordering Antique to the west and Capiz to the north. Just off Iloilo's southeast coast is the island-province of Guimaras and across Panay Gulf and Guimaras Strait is Negros Occidental.
This coming Dinagyang Festival is another Big Celebration to every Ilonggo or Ilonggoes (native people of iloilo). Most awaited event of the year here in Iloilo City which the Ilonggoes and participating tribes are having their big preparation just to make this event more exciting. I hate to say it but in my daily driving routine, I observed that ilonggo drivers have no regards whatsoever with their fellow drivers. Everyone seem to own the road. Nobody wanted to give way for the sake of better flow of traffic. Each one has their way.

Mayors from different municipalities of Iloilo Province pledging support for Gov. Niel Tupas I can understand. But support coming from a group known for their idealism is another. Gov. Tupas must doing something right to gain their support.
Bayan Muna today expressed its steadfast support to beleaguered Iloilo Gov. Niel Tupas Sr. after he was ‘perpetually dismissed from holding public office’ by the Office of the Ombudsman on trumped-up corruption charges.

I was intrigued by the new menu item from one of our favorite restaurant, Wok's in Mabini St., Iloilo City. The new menu is pritson manok and they even have a nice picture of it. I know restaurants have this uncanny ability to invent name for some common menu (I don't know why they do this. Go look at Pirate's Bar's menu for example.) and I'm wondering if I have came across this one before. Mang Inasal have pritson manok advertised.

I was listening all day to the radio about the riff between Governor Niel Tupas and Vice Governor Robert "Obet" Armada at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol still things wasn't very clear to me.

People in the Iloilo Provincial Capitol are confused as a result of the dismissal of Gov. Niel Tupas and two board members. Tupas was served with dismissal order by the DILG and sworn in Vice Gov. Obet Armada and Senior Board Member Manny Gallar as governor and vice governor respectively. The dismissal carries with it perpetual disqualification to hold public office.

Gov. Niel Tupas remains as governor of Province of Iloilo after surviving the siege of Iloilo Provincial Capitol. The last minute arrival of the TRO good for 60 days maintains the status quo. With that, Gov. Tupas' political rivals just gave him more votes he didn't have to buy next election. Everybody who were there thought it was way overkill.
