Capiz Politics: Liberal Party vs Ugyon Kita Capiz

Capiz election has been peaceful for the past years since it was dominated and controlled by the united Liberal Party (LP) headed by Senator Mar Roxas and his mother Judy Araneta-Roxas.

But due to some unavoidable circumstances happened in Capiz politics especially the arguments between Capiz Governor Victor Tanco and 2^nd District Congressman Fredinel Castro; and Roxas City Mayor Vicente Bermejo and 1^st District Congressman Antonio del Rosario, this calm condition of Capiz turns to be tense and agitated.  The situation was worsen when former Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Jocelyn “Joc joc Bolante” declared to run as Governor in 2010 election.

Congressman Castro together with Joc joc Bolante formed a local political party named Ugyon Kita Capiz (UKC).  Some of the local leaders of the Liberal Party (LP) had joined UKC which was chaired by Castro, with Bolante as the Vice-Chairman.

This scenario affected the previous peaceful and united situation of Capiz politics.  As the 2010 election is approaching, Capisnons feel immense pressure. It has been observed and noted from the previous activities handled by the Capiz Provincial Government (Capiztahan and Dungog Festival), that Mayors especially from the 2^nd District are not supporting and participating in the activities.  The gap between the Roxas City LGU and Capiz LGU is also expanding.

True colors of Capiz politicians are visibly reveal now a day… and with this, their loyalty, honesty and governance to the Capisnon and their political party are challenge.  Below is the tentative line up of the two political parties in the 2010 Election for the major bids in local election in Capiz and Roxas City based on the print media news related to Capiz politics.

There might be changes and shuffling of line ups as the last day of filing of candidacy (November 30, 2009) is approaching. In Capiz politics, enemies becomes allies, allies becomes enemies. Expect for a worst scenario.  Political strategies and machineries of each party were already conceptualized and executed.

Capisnon already feel the pressure of the results of this situation. But we have to be vigilant and push for a clean, peaceful and honest election.  Still in our hands depend the judgment and future of our beloved Capiz, as we cast our vote in 2010 election. We have to choose the leaders that can really help us for the progress of one another and vote WISELY. Do not vote those politicians who have selfish motive and remember those who have motive for the improvement of Capiz. 

Politicians are like diapers.  They both need changing regularly and for the same reason.
