Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) led the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the Congressional Black Caucus, the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, and the Congressional Progressive Caucus in formally introducing their bill today for comprehensive immigration reform. Titled CIR ASAP (or more formally, "Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity"), the bill would offer a path to legalization for undocumented immigrants and establish a panel within the Department of Homeland Security for making recommendations about future immigration. A couple years ago this darling little neighborhood girl, only six years old, died of leukemia. I went to the funeral. Other than getting all potty mouth with unwelcome doorstep missionaries on Christmas Day, I have not had a lot of contact with Jehovah Witnesses. But nonetheless I went down to the Kingdom Hall. Maria Rodriguez, executive director of the Florida Immigrant Coalition, told Florida's Sun Sentinel , "This anti-immigrant scapegoating is political posturing, not ... Read Full Story

It looks like that happy day is coming when Lou Dobbs is going to have to close down the illegal immigration show. And what is O'Reilly going to do, if he can't highlight the illegal immigrant horrid crime of the day? Even though the Visigoths continue to storm the Republic, the politicians seems to have come up with a reasonable solution . Although it will not satisfy those who wish to ship all the illegals back in railroad boxcars, after they serve ten years hard time in the Sheriff of Maricopa County's tent city jail, it looks workable. It is not often I see ... Read Full Story

The president has claimed that illegal immigrants will not be eligible for free healthcare under his healthcare reform bill. While it was true that there was no language in the bill that allowed illegals to get healthcare insurance there was also no language that prevented illegals from getting free healthcare. President Obama rectified the loophole that would have allowed illegal immigrants to receive healthcare when he recommended language to be added to the bill that would strictly prohibit illegal immigrants from getting healthcare. He asked that citizen verification be added to the healthcare reform bill. He added this language to appease conservatives, this is ... Read Full Story
