Tata Motors doubles profit in India

India's top vehicle maker Tata Motors said Monday it more than doubled profits in its domestic market in the third quarter of the year, boosted by sales of its Nano vehicle and foreign brands. Net profit in the three months to September reached 7.29 billion rupees (156 million dollars) from 3.47 billion rupees a year earlier on increased sales and cost-savings, the company said in a statement. Tata Bilaspur Train Derailed, 2 Dead, 47 others Injured, Jharkhand

      Two passengers were killed and over 47 others injured when eight bogies of the Tata-Bilaspur passenger train derailed after Maoists blew up railway tracks on Thursday night in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district. Railway minister Mamata Banerjee said that the train comprised 10 coaches of which five derailed and three toppled over as also the engine.
