Grizzly Bear, who are just about as all-over-the-place as Thom Yorke these days, join the Radiohead-head and some other indie luminaries on the OST to the Twilght sequel. But you read the internet, so you already knew that . What’s eluded laptops, though, is a glimpse greater than 80 seconds of the band’s soundtrack collab with Beach House’s Victoria LeGrand, titled “Slow Life.”
As it happens the two acts are on tour together, so it looks like “Slow Life” has become a nightly setlist... Read Full Story
I wasn’t going to do this. Working on the Best Albums of the 2000s was going to be enough work. But after reading through some pretty great lists by Pitchfork , I Guess I’m Floating and Gorilla vs Bear , I was reminded of something very important — although the album is the most vital instrument a musician has at his disposal to get an idea or feeling across to listeners, we can’t undermine the importance of a song. A song gives you small doses of relief, comfort, or what have you, minutes... Read Full Story
MUSIC NEWS - The first 7 Worlds Collide album, a gathering of amazing musical talents from across the world to aid Médecins Sans Frontières ( Doctors Without Borders ), was a unique live performance experience, combining the varied talents of a stellar cast across a range of cover versions to create a series of concerts that culminated in the live album of the same name. Seven years after that project, instigator Neil Finn now brings us the new 7 Worlds Collide project, The Sun Came... Read Full Story
Album Previews Great news from Secretly Canadian found its way into my inbox the other day. Jason Molina of Magnolia Electric Co. and Songs:Ohia fame, and Will Johnson, principle songwriter for Centro-matic and South San Gabriel, combined forces and recorded an album in Texas earlier this year. The album is slated for release on November 3 in the states and November 2 in the UK on the aforementioned Secretly Canadian label. The first single, which you can listen to below, is entitled "Twenty... Read Full Story

As the years go by, Wilco seems to work harder and harder to make people dislike it based on meandering whims ( A Ghost is Born , anyone?), heartbreaking line-up shifts ( Jay Bennett, RIP ) and, well, pretty much every word that comes out of Jeff Tweedy’s mouth when he isn’t singing.
So, with its seventh album, is Wilco still worth listening to? Or have fans simply invested too much time in the band to turn away from it now?
Everything about Wilco’s latest album seems very carefully... Read Full Story
Canada’s known for indie rock, so makes sense you’ll find plenty of homegrown talent (BSS, Stars) and international musicians (Wilco, Iron & Wine, Joan As Policewoman) near the slopes at Vancouver’s Winter Olympics. More names at CoS .

Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest 2009 Product Description Grizzly Bear released Yellow House in 2006. It was a slow, steady and stunning ride, and given the album s otherworldly charm and staying power, it s hard to believe three years have gone by. That might seem like a long time. But given Grizzly Bear s hectic touring schedule, including stints with Radiohead, TV On The Radio and Feist as well as several performances during a five-night tribute to Paul Simon at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, a... As we told you this past fall (and again, later ), Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien and Philip Selway rejoined ex-Crowded Housed Neil Finn for part two of his 7 Worlds Collide project. The inaugural project, recorded back in 2001, included O’Brien and Selway along with Eddie Vedder, Johnny Marr, Lisa Germano, Soul Coughing’s Sebastian Steinberg, and Neil’s son Liam. As you can note by reading the wordy headline above, the second installment, officially titled The Sun Came Out , includes something... Read Full Story
