Canon Image Prograph iPF8100 Compatible with OS X 10.5 Leopard
This is important information for anyone considering a similar purchase of the iPF8100 from Canon. This printer is compatible with Apples OS X Leopard Version 10.5 operating system. When I inquired no one knew for sure but I went ahead anyway knowing that I could always boot in Tiger (10.4) if necessary to print.

The statement that the iPF8100 is compatible with Leopard Version 10.5 is not completely true. We purchased one at my office and altho you can print to the printer, the current driver (Vers 1.35) as of 5-29-08 does not offer "Roll Paper" as the paper size thru all Adobe software or mac OS X's Preview application. When you do print, the image is limited to the standard sizes...leaving you with an 11x17 image on a 36" roll of paper. Canon support claims this is an issue with Adobe software and should be brought up with Adobe not Canon. This is also not so true, as when printed thru a Non-Adobe app the same issue occurs. My question to Canon is... who is using Word or Excel to print to an over sized printer?? I'll wager that at least 90% of the people who would even use an over sized printer would be printing from Adobe Illustrator. Think twice if you are considering this printer and if you are don't forget to budget in setting up a print server if you run mac OS X 10.5.
