We’ve all heard the expression, “don’t burn your bridges.” While this tends to be a good rule of thumb in business, client relationships, friendships and sometimes even personal relationships, it appears to me that this can also be detrimental advice in some instances. Case in point; the ex. I always think it’s a great sign when two people who were very committed to each other at some point were able to end things amicably. It shows a lot of maturity and respect on both sides and to me is a demonstration of an actual “real” love, because each person handles the break-up honorably and ... Read Full Story

Let’s face it; no woman is an island. While every modern woman loves to be independent, confident and self-reliant, we all could use balancing our alone time with a community. Communities come in many forms; spiritual groups, educational gatherings, family, friends, even people with whom we share common backgrounds, ethnicities or situations. No matter their form, these communities can be essential for our well being. To date or not to date your ex? That is the question. Okay, it’s not what Shakespeare originally intended, but isn’t it the dilemma we’ve all come face-to-face with at some point in our lives? I have been very much thrown back into the mix with my ex. Make that ex-husband – not just simple an “ex” - does that take things to a different level? Nine years of life together that ended last spring after the relationship broke down. Nine years of inside jokes, travel, love, but more then anything, friendship. Ours was not a messy divorce with tears, judges, bitterness and fighting. ... Read Full Story

The world can keep its Star Trek, Wolverine and Terminator prequels, sequels and trailers. All the special effects and story lines of this summers blockbusters dont interest me half as much as the highly anticipated movie event of my summer. I am of course talking about the US release of the French film, Coco avant Chanel ( Coco before Chanel ). For my money it doesnt get any better then Ms. Chanel. Unless of course its my absolute favorite actress, Audrey Tautau, playing Chanel. This movie has me captivated from just watching the trailer alone. I am awaiting Cocos move being released the same ... Read Full Story
