A federal appeals court affirmed a lower court's ruling that dismissed a lawsuit against FBI agents who conducted raids on certain Muslim businesses and homes in Herndon, Virginia in 2002. This is an important ruling in that these raids helped expose some of the Islamist networks in America. These networks largely thrived under the Clinton administration although I do give him credit for declaring Hamas a terrorist organization in 1995. Above: Al-Arian movie poster on Islamonline Two of the Muslims that were charged were well-educated and prominent Muslims in our country. Aid reaching Gaza, but U.N. says it’s not enough Israel allowed dozens of trucks carrying relief aid into Gaza on Monday, but the United Nations said the aid will not be enough to alleviate a worsening humanitarian situation as Israel’s military assault on Gaza enters its third day. Israeli military sources said 50 trucks carrying humanitarian aid crossed into Gaza on Monday through the Kerem Shalom border crossing and more are expected to cross later in the day. "We had about 40 trucks yesterday, we hope [to have] about 100 today," said Karen AbuZayd, the commissioner-general of the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for ... Read Full Story

Somali refugees. NAIROBI (AFP) — Islamist armed groups controlling Somalia's southern city of Kismayo have carried out amputations and unlawful killings, Amnesty International reported Thursday. The London-based watchdog cited the case of Mohamed Omar Ismail, who had one of his hands publicly amputated by local religious leaders as a punishment for allegedly stealing items worth around 90 dollars (65 euros). Hundreds of residents attended the punishment, which was carried out in a place called "Freedom Park," Amnesty's statement said. "Punishments like amputations and killings illustrate the extent to which violence still substitutes for the rule of law in many areas of Somalia," said Michelle ... Read Full Story

The Justice Department may have hoodwinked a defendant in a high-profile terrorism case into thinking his plea bargain would protect him from further prosecutions, a federal judge said Monday. Monday's hearing in U.S. District Court was the latest in which Judge Leonie Brinkema questioned the Justice Department's tactics in pursuing a criminal contempt case against former professor Sami Al-Arian, once accused of being a leading Palestinian terrorist. Brinkema gave Al-Arian's lawyers 10 days to file papers seeking dismissal of the case on the grounds that prosecutors failed to keep promises made under the plea bargain. She acknowledged that the protections Al-Arian wants enforced may ... Read Full Story
