AT A GLANCE The Bank provides debt relief to low-income countries through the Debt Relief Initiative for Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC), created in 1996, and the Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative (MDRI), created in 2006. Thirty countries are receiving debt relief under one or both of these initiatives, with ten other countries potentially eligible. This debt relief is worth over US$63 billion in 2005 net present value terms (NPV) if all creditors participate. I got this little gem from WebWare - FreeRice is part-vocabulary game, part-charity program. The premise of the site is amazingly simple - a word will be flashed and you choose the correct synonym from a list of four words. Get it right and they donate 10 grains of rice to the world's hungry. Get it wrong consistently and they lower the difficulty of the words being shown to you. We Did It!!!! Keith donated enough bread, peanut butter, and jelly to make 110 sandwiches! We saw the Society of St Vincent De Paul outside our Grocery store taking donations at Thanksgiving time for a food drive. They said that they always accept supplies for sandwiches, so we did it!
