Hot Buttered Soul

By A. Digs on  From digsdaily.com
Released in 1969, Hot Buttered Soul was my introduction to Isaac Hayes' greatness! I was introduced to this record by my father, and it is a deep one! What I like most about Hot Buttered Soul is the raw funk! Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic just smashes you in the face with that goodness, while the funk of Walk On By kinda sneaks up on you. Despite By the Time I Get to Phoenix being the longest song I have ever heard (18:46), it has a deep message. Most people's interpretations are...Read Full Story

Chef - the one and only-is gone

By Sara Silver on  From sarasilver.wordpress.com
Isaac Hayes, the voice  of the character “Chef” on the hilarious, crude, and hair-trigger fast “South Park” for so many years, died today in Memphis. He was 65. Although he left the Comedy Central hit show in March 2006, he will always be Chef to me, and South Park will always be different without him. He suffered a stroke in January 2006, but there doesn’t seem to be tons of real information about the incident nor his recovery. And rumor has it The Church of Scientology has...Read Full Story
