Released in 1969, Hot Buttered Soul was my introduction to Isaac Hayes' greatness! I was introduced to this record by my father, and it is a deep one! What I like most about Hot Buttered Soul is the raw funk! Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic just smashes you in the face with that goodness, while the funk of Walk On By kinda sneaks up on you. Despite By the Time I Get to Phoenix being the longest song I have ever heard (18:46), it has a deep message.
