KARACHI, Pakistan, Aug. 17 (UPI) --
The leader of the Sipah-e-Sahaba, a banned Pakistani extremist group, was shot and killed by gunmen in Sindh Province, police said.
Maulana Ali Sher Hyderi and his driver were attacked Monday in Khairpur district as they traveled in a car, the BBC reported. Hyderi was returning to Hyderabad, east of the port city of Karachi, after a speaking engagement.
