Demonstrators protest against Pro- Köln anti-Islamisation, anti-mega-mosque rally in Cologne

"Pro Koeln" the anti-Islamization group protested against the building of a planned grand mosque as well as the Islamization of German society - was met today by leftist and Muslim protesters - protesting against them. On the last occasion - the extreme leftist factions - who are known to pair up with Islam interests and very often radical Islamist interests - caused a riot and the peaceful Pro- Köln protest was cut short. In a free society people have the right to protest - as well as to counter protest the things the are unhappy about.

What is worrying about the press and protest against the Pro-Köln group or indeed any group - that dares to challenge Islam and Muslim practise - is that they are given the blanket label of racist or in this case Nazi. Similarly before the start of the second world war - all dissent centered around the Nazi regime was also silenced. Today we are being asked to respect Islam unconditionally and without thought - or permission it seems from a higher power -
the special people in elected government - so much so that for Islam - we are willing to run our nations like those in the Islamic world - effectively Islamizing - Europe - where freedoms and rights are put down - and any criticism of Islam is met with threats, death or imprisonment.

If these are the things the majority Muslim population needs to be integrated into Europe - then we should expect more protest such as the Pro-Koln and we should expect them to become louder and louder - or worst more focused - into a political movement which will alter the shape of EU politics. Not for hate - but pro-Europe and pro-human rights - and this doesn't have to be anti-Islamic - so long as those in Islam - are willing to respect the freedoms and individual rights of others. In the Islamic world these ideas are at best foreign or worst forbidden - and perhaps along with Muslims present in Europe believe that they can overturn European rights and freedoms laws - under the guise of respecting Islamic sensibilities - have to know that in the end it will be the rights and freedoms of the individual that will be respected and no religion shall be put above that.

In deed if Shari'a works so well why don't Muslims solve the Islamic world's many problems with it - and maybe invite the far-left groups to help them in their work.

More than 1,500 people turned out in Cologne to protest against the anti-Islam rally
Police in Cologne say about 1,600 people have protested peacefully against racism and a controversial "anti-Islam" rally held by right-wing groups that oppose the building of a large new mosque in the city.

Hundreds of left-wingers and members of church groups, trade unions and the Green party held a demonstration in Cologne to counter an "anti-Islam" rally organized by two rightist groups.

"Today we're sending a signal that democrats stand united against right-wing radicalism, racism and agitation," said Reinhard Bütikofer, former head of the Green party, who took part in the rally in downtown Cologne.

Cologne Mayor Fritz Schramma said the peaceful protests by residents on Saturday showed that the city is "open and tolerant." He also said Cologne was "committed when it comes to defending these values."

Security was tight as more than 5,000 police officers, outfitted with water cannons and riot gear, cordoned off the square where the "anti-Islam" demonstration took place. The authorities were concerned that there could be clashes between the two sides, as has frequently been the case in the past.

Cologne police had banned the right-wing groups from holding a high-profile demonstration in front of the Cologne cathedral in the city center and instead allowed them to assemble at another, more obscure, square in the Deutz district.

Police say there were about 300 people at the right-wing "Pro Koeln" and "Pro NRW" rally.

The groups, which are campaigning against the building of a large new mosque in the city, held a larger rally last September which was joined by members of nationalist parties elsewhere in Europe. That protest sparked violent clashes and rioting by far-left demonstrators.

The two anti-Islam groups are opposed to the building of mosques and what they see as an influx of Moslem immigration into Germany.

Mayor Schramma vowed that the forthcoming national elections in September would not be used to exploit ethnic or religious tensions.

There will be no "sordid election campaign on the back of our foreign fellow citizens," he said.
