Israeli-Palestinian peace

Israeli President Shimon Peres has called on his Palestinian Authority counterpart Mahmoud Abbas to stand for re-election. Earlier this week Mr Abbas announced he would not be standing in the upcoming Palestinian elections because of the lack of progress in the peace negotiations.
