If you’ve ever wondered what is so great about a Ferrari 599 GTB that it costs a quarter of a million dollars and can take over 2 years to be delivered, then you’ve should check out Ultimate Factories on the National Geographic Channel. The Ferrari episode is on tomorrow at 5pm. Hopefully, you’ve got NGC in HD so you can see this amazing place in detail. Basically, they build each Ferrari by hand, from creating individual casts for every single engine forged, to the team of seamstresses that sew each interior by hand. It’s incredibly inefficient, and magical at the same time that such high levels of human craftsmanship are still employed in producing these modern masterworks. What I loved seeing was the intense focus on perfection, and the ability to reject a vehicle at any step. Final quality control is completed by professional drivers who take each car around their private race track to ensure that it meets expectations
