During the 2008 NBA Draft, the Cavaliers had a couple of needs that Danny Ferry was looking to fill. The backcourt depth was suspect at both spots, as well as the front court power positions. The four and five slots were the more pressing need, since it was loaded with slower big men like Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Anderson Varejao, Joe Smith (had yet to be traded), and Ben Wallace. Developing a young big to take Joe Smith’s minutes was probably #1 on Ferry’s mind. Read Full Story

April 09, 2009 By: Scott Category: Cleveland Cavaliers Last night welcomed back the return of Ben Wallace to the Cavaliers frontcourt. In fact, the arena team shop was holding a Welcome Back Ben sale by displaying his jerseys proudly in the entrance of the store. But what his return also marks is the addition of another body to the Cavaliers post game - one that is much-needed with news that J.J. Hickson will miss up to three weeks with some lower back issues. An MRI that was given to the rookie forward yesterday afternoon revealed that he has what’s being called a “stress reaction” ... Hickson helped the 9-year-old boy out by bending down to his level. “I didn’t think he was that tall,” said Quion, after their meeting. Hickson looked every bit his 6-foot-9, 245-pound [...]
