J.J. Redick Even with Vince Carter ’s ankle keeping him sidelined for his latest return to Toronto (where he could get booed in an Orlando uniform this time), there were more than enough ready-made story lines going into Magic/Raptors: Hedo Turkoglu ’s first game against his old squad , the next chapter in the Dwight Howard vs. Chris Bosh rivalry (quietly and consistently more exciting than Deron Williams vs. Chris Paul ), and the intrigue of seeing which players would be visibly sleep-walking for a 1 p.m. EST tip-off the day after Halloween. So you can understand why nobody was ready for J.J. Redick ... Read Full Story

Say what? Yes, J.J. Redick has spent most of his NBA with the Orlando Magic career sitting on the bench. By all accounts, he’s a long way from coach Jeff Van Gundy’s favorite and in spite of his ability to shoot the rock, Redick has only averaged 14.4 minutes and 5.5 points per game. Courtney Lee's injury in the first round of the NBA Playoffs has given Redick, Duke's career-leading scorer, a chance to play meaningful minutes. He started Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals and helped the Magic beat the Boston Celtics, 95-90. Redick outscored Boston's shooting guard, Ray Allen (12 to ... Read Full Story

Hmmm… This according to J.P. Giglio at the Raliegh News & Observer's ACC NOW: Hip hop has a new hero and it's none other than former Duke great J.J. Redick. The erstwhile ACC scoring king told allhiphop.com that he's releasing an album with a rap "super group" before the end of the year. Redick, you'll remember, was into writing poetry at Duke, so maybe that's the natural transition. Right? Either that or he has a lot of time on his hands. Among the names for Redick's unnamed super group is "Sub-par," which is just too exquisite to make up (and all props to allhiphop ... Read Full Story

NBA / May 4, 2009 / 5:30 pm By Dime Magazine J.J. Redick hears so much trash from fans every time he visits a new arena, he’s asking fans to try to bring something new, something better than the usual tonight at TD Banknorth Garden. “I just want some creativity, that’s all I want,” Redick said Saturday. “I haven’t heard creative things since college. Like really, I don’t know if it’s the alcohol consumption at NBA games, but there’s nothing remotely creative or funny ever said to me. It’s boring. I’m so conditioned to it now.” In the biggest game of his life - ... Read Full Story

J.J. Redick is back. Not that he ever actually left the game of basketball, but Redick’s legendary hoops status has been on hiatus the past few seasons. That’s all about to change. Stan Van Gundy has to be happy now about keeping Redick on board, despite the fact that Van Gundy rarely used the former Duke legend at all the last three years or so. Redick did get some extended playing time towards the end of last season and into the playoffs...

Orlando Magic shooting guard J.J. Redick will soon become the latest basketball player with his own unnamed rap group.   According to Redick, he’s part of a “rap super group” that will release a new single before the end of the year titled “Waste Management.”   “We’re working on a rap CD,” Redick revealed. “We actually haven’t come up with a name from the group, we’re throwing around some ideas right now.”   Redick listed a number of...

What was the most compelling storyline of this weekend's Orlando-Boston showdown? The heated rivalry between J.J. Redick and Shelden Williams that dates to the time Williams stole Redick's juice box on the team bus to Wake Forest. [Thanks, Todd] Update: Apparently, Time Warner also promoted yesterday's Celtics/Knicks matchup as a Chris Duhon and Shelden Williams reunion. If you see anymore evidence of pro-Duke bias from your TV's program guide...

Plus, we don’t have LeBron. Seriously, if the guy said tomorrow that he was going to run for President, (CNN’s) Anderson Cooper would be on SportsCenter for 30 minutes talking about why he’d make a good president." J.J. Redick to Magic.com's John Denton (via Third Quarter Collapse). So conflicted right now. Do I admit that I actually like J.J. Redick for one day, or does my disdain for him override my hatred for LeBron?
