Although Derrick and I are fans of a number of reality television programs, we've never really been aficionados of neither SURVIVOR nor THE JANICE DICKINSON MODELING AGENCY. If we were, we probably would have featured out gay hottie, J.P. Calderon, on a TOO Hot Tuesday long before now.

John Paul "J.P." Calderon was born September 5, 1975 in Santa Monica, California. He is of Costa Rican descent. J.P. grew up in Marina del Rey, California. He attended California State University, Long Beach, where he graduated with a degree in speech communication in 2000.

While @ CSULB, J.P. was a member of the school's nationally-ranked men's volleyball team. He was also an assistant coach for the school's women's team for five years. He began a professional volleyball career in 2004, and became a nationally-ranked Association of Volleyball Professionals player.

J.P. came to widespread national attention when he appeared as a contestant on the controversial racially segregated SURVIVOR: COOK ISLANDS, which premiered on September 14, 2006. He started off as one of the five members of the Hispanic "Aitutaki" tribe, and later became a member of the "Rarotonga" tribe once all of the other tribes were merged. J.P. was the fourth cast member voted off of the island.

J.P. followed up his Survivor experience, by attending an open casting call for THE JANICE DICKINSON MODELING AGENCY, which lead to him actually joining the cast in 2007 during the show's second season. In the third episode, J.P. was approached to appear on the cover of INSTINCT magazine . . . a publication that requires its male cover models to be openly gay. The offer prompted J.P. to publicly come out on the show and in the magazine's February 2007 edition. Click here to read that article. It was recently announced on THE JANICE DICKINSON MODELING AGENCY's 4th season finale that J.P. will head the male division of the agency when it moves to New York City.
