Movie Review: The Bucket List

Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson make a good team in the film “The Bucket List”. The storyline revolves around the unlikely friendship between rich guy Edward Cole (Nicholson) and regular guy Carter Chambers (Freeman) when they both find they are diagnosed with a terminal disease. This is basically a buddy movie with an unlikely topic.

Directed with typical style by Rob Reiner this film’s script is elevated by its leading actors. The script can come close to sentimentality at times with the fine performances of Freeman and Nicholson bringing it back to believable. Sean Hayes gives a great low key performance as Cole’s put upon and supportive assistant.

Freeman and Nicholson are always wonderful to watch and this is no exception. Put your ideas of plausibiliy to the side and savor the relationship of the characters. If you look past some of the predictable moments that come in the film I think most people will enjoy the feeling of genuine friendship cultivated by Freeman and Nicholson throughout the movie.

2007. Directed by Rob Reiner. Written by Justin Zackham. Starring Morgan Freeman, Jack Nicholson,  .
