Starting its filming in Beijing Saturday, July 11, the remake project for 1984 hit 'The Karate Kid' has been been retitled 'Kung-Fu Kid'.

Variety has confirmed that Jackie Chan will play Mr. Miyagi in the upcoming remake of The Karate Kid. Jaden Smith, who takes on the Ralph Macchio role is of course the young son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. The film, titled Kung Fu Kid, which unlike the original will take place in China.

According to AP , “ Kung Fu Kid ,” a remake of the 1984 classic, “ Karate Kid ,” started principal photography on Saturday.
