Embarrass is probably not a strong enough word for what happened in Carolina today. This was an absolute beating; a slaughter, a massacre. The Arizona Cardinals came into this game as the heavy underdog to the Carolina Panthers, who finished number two in the NFC. It was supposed to be a sure victory for the Panthers, but I guess no one told that to Cardinals’ starting quarterback, Kurt Warner . On top of the fact that the Cards finished the season so poorly, the Panthers have not lost a home game all season. The winner of this game goes onto play the winner of ... Read Full Story

The Dolphins were hoping Thursday night for a prime time effort from running back Ricky Williams, taking the place of the injured Ronnie Brown. They got more than they probably thought they would from their back, as Williams scored three times and rushed for 119 yards as the Dolphins moved to 5-5 with a 24-17 win. Williams caught a 14-yard TD from Chad Henne in the second quarter to put Miami up 7-3, then ran in a one-yard run to make it 14-3 with :57 seconds left in the first half. Then with Miami holding to a 17-14 lead with less than four minutes ... Read Full Story

A bad game in the playoffs in which he threw five picks in a 33-13 loss to the Cardinals was not enough to stop the Panthers from giving quarterback Jake Delhomme a five-year deal on Thursday worth a reported $42.5 million. The deal will keep the 34-year-old QB likely in Carolina for the remainder of his pro career. “It’s all about being able to know that I can finish my career here in Carolina,” Delhomme said. “That’s what I’ve wanted, all I’ve ever wanted.” The deal includes $20 million in guaranteed money and clears much needed salary-cap space for Carolina. Delhomme was to count ... Read Full Story
