John Mayer? really? what makes him so freakin' great

Hey, no surprises here and as usual I am probably behind the times.

Who the hell is John Mayer?  I mean, I know who he is, even heard a song on the radio and recognized it was his but...
I was watching a Concert TV channel the other day which was running Soundstage with Johnny boy.  Someone better call Dave Matthews, seems as though this dude as stolen his act.  Don't get me wrong, I think Dave is great, but someone doing Dave Matthews but poorly, mugging for the camera, dancing around his Persian rug.  Gimmie a break.
This dude better realize he's about 10 years past his high school days of relevance.  Arguing about how great a politician Ron Paul is, concerned about the earth (didn't Dave do that already?, Dave's dumping crap off the tour bus aside).  That high and mighty shit may have worked in CT, while hanging with Buffy and Miffy, but nationwide, he needs to tone it down.  But my attack is not meant to be personal, just saddened to the realization that someone who gets such good press about being this phenomenal artist, seems like a bad tribute act. 
Powerful friends and hot looking girlfriends aside.  Hopefully he'll decide to put down his axe and perhaps regal us with some acting prowess.
