New rules goes into effect today for bikini barista stands in Snohomish County. Espresso stands in the county featuring nearly naked baristas could be shut down as a public nuisance.  

The owner of several bikini barista stands goes on an angry tirade when KIRO 7 sets up in front of his stand to report on new laws effecting such businesses.  

Baristas Coffee Co., which operates 12 drive-through espresso stands in the Seattle area staffed by scantily clad women, said it’s been bought by Innovative Communications Technologies Inc. for an undisclosed sum.  

The Snohomish County Council has passed an ordinance requiring that bikini barista stands with partially nude employees or sexually suggestive signs be licensed as adult entertainment.

The ordinance passed Wednesday requires employees and customers to be at least 18. Violators could be shut down as a public nuisance.

A new espresso stand in Bellevue is stirring up some controversy as bikini baristas are under fire from a local citizens group.  

Scandal reared its busty bosom across Washington in 2009, as scantily-clad baristas made news from Everett to Bellevue to Spokane.

Many communities grappled with complaints filed by citizens who were not amused by the antics of buxom baristas who prepared lattes and mochas while wearing a bikini, or less.
