James Comey testified this week to the Senate Judiciary Comittee about the Bush Administration wire tapping scandal. The administration authorized telephone taps on US citizens on home soil. At the time, Comey was the acting attorney general during Ashcroft's health absence. James Comey told the committee that then-White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales and former White House Chief of Staff Andy Card pressured Ashcroft to sign the wire-tapping order despite the fact that Ashcroft found the wire-tapping to be illegal. They tried to get Ashcroft to sign the recertification from his bed at George Washington University Hospital while he was suffering from cancer. Read Full Story
