Janet is the youngest child of the Jackson music family. Janet is noted for being one of few celebrities who were able to break away from the shadow of a sibling, to have a successful solo career. Jackson began her career as a child actress, appearing television shows like Good Times and Diff'rent Strokes. After two lackluster albums, Janet fired her father Joseph Jackson, as her manager and traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota in the mid-1980's to team up with with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The trio created Jackson’s breakthrough album Control and collaborated on such the socially-focused follow-up, Rhythm Nation 1814, the sexually-matured album janet., and the introspective, The Velvet Rope.
