The Daily Herald reports that Jay Cutler may go to an insulin pump next season to control his diabetes: Bears quarterback Jay Cutler says he’s considering wearing an insulin pump next season to better control his diabetes. Currently Cutler gives himself several insulin injections each day to maintain proper blood sugar levels. A pump provides a continuous, flexible amount of insulin, usually through a small catheter. “I tried it out probably a month after I was diagnosed, (during) the off-season workouts,” Cutler said. “It kept falling off, and I just got away from it and stuck with the shots. This off-season I’m going to ... Read Full Story

“He’s a different type of receiver. He’s a different target for me.” Those are the words that Bears quarterback Jay Cutler used to describe 6′2″ wide receiver Devin Aromashodu. I simply call him the other “Devin”, because his last name is so hard to pronounce, but seriously Jay Cutler is right, Aromashodu is a different target for him. Cutler needs a big guy out their other than Greg Olsen catching passes. His current set of wide receivers, Hester (5′11″), Bennett (6′0″), and Knox (6′0″) are the shortest receiving combo in the league and their considered midgets among league averages. Cutler needs that type of ... Read Full Story

Brandon Marshall may be back in the mix offensively at practice but it remains unclear whether the Broncos' disgruntled wideout will make his preseason debut in Denver's game Sunday against Chicago. Denver coach Josh McDaniels said Marshall was fully involved in Tuesday's practice, the team's first workout since Saturday's 27-13 loss at Seattle. The practice, which was closed to the media, was cut short about 45 minutes because of bad weather. "He did everything that we were doing there, he did our drills," McDaniels said. "We didn't get to finish practice obviously, but it was a nice crisp practice today." He said it was ... Read Full Story

Long before the game was over, even the announcers were second-guessing Josh McDaniels. Not because of anything he did Sunday night, but because of what the Denver rookie coach was thinking last February. Shortly after taking the job, McDaniels hatched a plan to get quarterback Matt Cassel from his former employers and wound up driving incumbent quarterback Jay Cutler out of town and into the arms of the Chicago Bears instead. By the time former All-Pro safety and soon-to-be sidekick Rodney Harrison joined announcers Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth in the booth midway through the third quarter, McDaniels' fate was practically sealed. "His career ... Read Full Story

I like Jay. I hope he becomes a an all-time great in the Windy City. I really do. But here’s the problem: (one of them). After the ‘85 Bears demolished the NFL, no assistant coach was hotter than Buddy Ryan. Norman Braman hired Buddy to coach his Eagles the following season. At the press conference to announce the hiring of Buddy Ryan, Braman introduced Ryan as “the next Vince Lombardi of the National Football League.” This isn’t a post...

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre spoke up about Jay Cutler and his play yesterday, here’s what he had to say: ‘‘I think he’s better [at 26 than I was],’ at this stage, he’s way more advanced. Physically, he’s got all the tools. But mentally, he’s way more advanced and able to see defenses and read things. [...]

by Ryan WilsonFiled under: NFLJosh McDaniels is young, brash, foul-mouthed (!), and for the first six weeks of the NFL season -- his first as a head coach -- the Broncos were undefeated. They dropped three straight following their Week 7 bye, before heading to division rival San Diego. Broncos-Chargers get-togethers are always contentious, in recent years primarily because of Jay Cutler and Philip Rivers. With Cutler having whined his way onto...
