Jayson Werth has some legs on him. Jayson Werth did a little Forrest Gump impression last night, stealing 4 bases during the Philadelphia Phillies 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers last night. He even stole home, the first Philly to do so since 2007. From philly.com: Jayson Werth was feeling frisky last night. That's what his manager said, and that's how Werth looked on the bases during the Phillies' 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers at Citizens Bank Park. The rightfielder equaled a team record with four steals, including a swipe of home, and the Phils outpitched, outhit, outran and outfoxed an ... Read Full Story

Did you know that George Herman "Babe" Ruth's great nephew plays Major League Baseball? The player I refer to is none other that Phillie TJ Bohn. Yep, the young phenom slugging outfielder who has been passed from organization to organization and was recently given free agent status is of Babe Ruth's bloodline...okay, not really. Sorry TJ Bohn, but you suck, and the only thing you've got going for you is you pseudo-porn name. Some current Phillies do have MLB lineage though, with Jayson Werth being a shining example. Werth's stepfather was Dennis Werth , who played 1st base, outfield, and catcher for the New ... Read Full Story

Saturday through Tuesday = 4 games/9 runs. Wednesday = 1 game/12 runs. This constitutes as a breakout. Ryan Howard goes yard twice mixing in a double and climbs closer to the Mendoza Line (.195). Shane Victorino started his 3rd game in a row despite being told Jayson Werth was a "starter" and had 3 hits as well, including a homerun. Out Machine Pedro Feliz also went deep and chipped in 3 hits like Howard and Vic. Coste, Utley, and Rollins were invited to the hit-fest too, dumping 2 hits a piece. Overall, it was a well played game in all facets (defense, pitching, offense, ... Read Full Story

Jayson Werth was easily the player of the game last night, knocking in 4 of the Phillies 5 runs in the series opening victory over the Braves. However, he was nearly the goat of the game, botching a rbi double by Brian McCann in the top of the 9th, as he misread the ball that ended up gliding over his head that should have been caught for a game ending out. I shouldn't wag my finger at Werth though, after all, it was Manuel's decision to start Werth in CF and Victorino in RF. I understood playing Werth in CF while Vic was on ... Read Full Story

Last week the lady behind the counter at Wawa told me people are always nice when the sun shines and the Phillies win.   Well, it’s a great time to work at Wawa.   And a perfect time to be a Phillies’ fan. I’ve only lived here a few years but I remember vividly the scorching summer day in 2007 when I walked into my sister’s house and announced, “I heard the Phils can sweep the Mets today and we have to be there.”   The eerie part was I don’t...

Thus far, the offseason for the Los Angeles Dodgers has been mired in speculation about the divorce of Frank and Jamie McCourt. Does the team have enough expendable money to fill their roster holes?  Will Frank have to sell the team to a third party?  Is this organization dedicated to winning even with the front office distractions?  But no amount of off the field drama can sour the recognition being earned by Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp. Both...
