If Ducks goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere has looked differently lately, it’s not just because of his improved play.
Giguere has been wearing a new mask for about two weeks. He said Francois Xavier Allaire , the son of former Ducks goaltending consultant Francois Allaire , asked him if he could paint his mask.

Some quick hits on a fairly busy practice Wednesday …
General manager Bob Murray said the trade for Montreal center Kyle Chipchura does not portend a bigger move.
Murray reiterated that he’s always looking to make the team better but said, “Do I have a lot planned? No.”

Jean-Sebastien Giguere is rounding into his old form, something the Anaheim Ducks need to have happen if they expect to turn their inconsistent season around. Jean-Sebastien Giguere looked almost playoff-worthy in this 3-2 shootout victory over Calgary, stopping Curtis Glencross late and going 3-for-3 in the shootout itself.
A Ducks’ goaltender was the No. 1 star of the game. Has that happened this year?
