Goaltending seemed to be down the list of the litany of issues the Ducks have had to deal with in their uninspiring start to the season.
Now you can add that to the list after Jean-Sebastien Giguere gave up a backbreaking soft goal by Columbus defenseman Fedor Tyutin with 3:22 remaining that decided the Blue Jackets’ 6-4 victory Saturday night at Honda Center....

The season hasn’t exactly gone as planned for goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
The expected competition with Jonas Hiller for the No.1 job never really materialized in training camp. Giguere then got hurt, and trade rumors picked up again, specifically with Toronto.
Giguere made his dissatisfaction with his backup role known at the end of last season, and he let it be known again before the Ducks left for a four-game road trip.
It can’t get much worse, can it?
Stay tuned.

If you read the rumor mill and see all the reports it is heavily rumored that Jean-Sebastien Giguere may be heading to Toronto for Vesa Toskala. I have hinted around with this for almost a week and to me the Ducks are going to get the better deal if this happens.
It’ no secret that Vesa Toskala is having and off season but you need to look at the cast of characters that was in front of him for his 0-2-2 start. Don’t get me wrong, Jonas Gustausson was very solid as he made 35 saves in his... Read Full Story

Jean-Sebastien Giguere looked almost playoff-worthy in this 3-2 shootout victory over Calgary, stopping Curtis Glencross late and going 3-for-3 in the shootout itself.
A Ducks’ goaltender was the No. 1 star of the game. Has that happened this year?
But Giguere wasn’t just positioning himself and letting pucks hit him. He came out high to challenge Calgary shooters and used his blocker in those situations.
“Pete’s told me I need to do that more often,” Giguere said.
