COLUMBUS, Ohio — As he hoped when he spoke out about his role earlier this week, Jean-Sebastien Giguere figures to get his latest shot at regaining the job as the Ducks’ No. 1 goalie.
Giguere is expected to play against the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight in what would be his first game since he aggravated his groin muscle Oct. 24 against the same Blue Jackets on Fedor Tyutin ’s decisive third-period goal in a 6-4 home loss.
Because of his groin issues, Giguere has been limited to just... Read Full Story
Spoke at length with Ducks general manager Bob Murray , who touched on several topics in light of his team’s 6-8-2 start that has them in last place in the Pacific Division.
– As he did when the Ducks were struggling midway through last season, Murray said Randy Carlyle isn’t going to be fired as coach and shouldn’t be the reason why the team has been one of the NHL’s most disappointing outfits.
“Let’s get this out of the way,” Murray said. “I did stand very firm behind him and I am... Read Full Story
I don’t know about you but I am sick of hearing about the Anaheim Ducks. First we heard all the crying from the fans about the officiating in their loss to the Leafs a couple of weeks ago and since then there has been the goaltender controversy.
This week Jean-Sebastien Giguere tells the LA Daily news that he would rather retire than be a back up goaltender. With Giguere back in the line up, the Ducks have some decisions to make. Jonas Hiller has held the fort down and played well as he... Read Full Story
Jean-Sebastien Giguere returns to the Ducks this week and made it clear that wants the chance to regain the starting job in net.

The season hasn’t exactly gone as planned for goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
The expected competition with Jonas Hiller for the No.1 job never really materialized in training camp. Giguere then got hurt, and trade rumors picked up again, specifically with Toronto.
Giguere made his dissatisfaction with his backup role known at the end of last season, and he let it be known again before the Ducks left for a four-game road trip.
It can’t get much worse, can it?
Stay tuned.

The Ducks re-assigned goaltender Justin Pogge to Bakersfield of the East Coast Hockey League on Monday.
That would certainly clear the way for Jean-Sebastien Giguere to come back from a nagging groin-muscle injury, as the move comes a day before the team leaves for a four-game road trip.
Pogge did not play appear in a game for the Ducks during his stint as backup to Jonas Hiller . He has gone 2-1 with a 2.10 goals-against average with the Condors.

If you read the rumor mill and see all the reports it is heavily rumored that Jean-Sebastien Giguere may be heading to Toronto for Vesa Toskala. I have hinted around with this for almost a week and to me the Ducks are going to get the better deal if this happens.
It’ no secret that Vesa Toskala is having and off season but you need to look at the cast of characters that was in front of him for his 0-2-2 start. Don’t get me wrong, Jonas Gustausson was very solid as he made 35 saves in his... Read Full Story
For those that missed it in print or online, Register columnist Randy Youngman reports that there have been preliminary discussions between the Ducks and Toronto involving a possible trade that would send goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere to the Maple Leafs.
The Maple Leafs would like someone to mentor goaltender Jonas Gustavsson, and the Ducks would likely have to take on Vesa Toskala’s $4 million salary, Youngman writes.
Speculation about Giguere going to Toronto has been thrown... Read Full Story
NEWARK, N.J. – Fully aware of the uproar created from his outspoken frustration about his backup status, Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere said he does not want a trade and only wants a chance to win back his starting job. Read Full Story
Is Ducks goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere on his way out of town?
If so, all signs point toward Toronto.
The rumors that were rampant in the offseason and then dissipated in training camp have resumed in earnest....
Giguere (0-2, 3.65, .895) is winless in four games this season and currently is recovering from a strained groin muscle. Giguere, 32, makes $6 million this season and $7 million next season, so the Ducks obviously don’t want to pay that much to a backup.
