Some news and updates following the Ducks’ workout today at Honda Center:
– Jean-Sebastien Giguere (pictured) is very questionable for tomorrow night’s game against Dallas because of an injury that neither he nor Ducks coach Randy Carlyle will fully disclose.
Giguere came off the ice early during today’s practice at Honda Center and later stated that he’s dealt with the injury that past couple of days. Both the goalie and Carlyle said the injury was not a factor when he relieved Jonas... Read Full Story
The Ducks re-assigned goaltender Justin Pogge to Bakersfield of the East Coast Hockey League on Monday.
That would certainly clear the way for Jean-Sebastien Giguere to come back from a nagging groin-muscle injury, as the move comes a day before the team leaves for a four-game road trip.
Pogge did not play appear in a game for the Ducks during his stint as backup to Jonas Hiller . He has gone 2-1 with a 2.10 goals-against average with the Condors.

If you read the rumor mill and see all the reports it is heavily rumored that Jean-Sebastien Giguere may be heading to Toronto for Vesa Toskala. I have hinted around with this for almost a week and to me the Ducks are going to get the better deal if this happens.
It’ no secret that Vesa Toskala is having and off season but you need to look at the cast of characters that was in front of him for his 0-2-2 start. Don’t get me wrong, Jonas Gustausson was very solid as he made 35 saves in his... Read Full Story
Is Ducks goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere on his way out of town?
If so, all signs point toward Toronto.
The rumors that were rampant in the offseason and then dissipated in training camp have resumed in earnest....
Giguere (0-2, 3.65, .895) is winless in four games this season and currently is recovering from a strained groin muscle. Giguere, 32, makes $6 million this season and $7 million next season, so the Ducks obviously don’t want to pay that much to a backup.

Those reading between the lines, specifically the goal lines, at Sunday’s preseason finale might deduce that Jean-Sebastien Giguere will be in net when the Ducks open the season Saturday.
Then again, it was Giguere’s turn in net after counterpart Jonas Hiller got his final start on Thursday.
There’s no use trying to find out who will be between the pipes on opening night. You’d have better luck with a crystal ball.
In the final tune-up before the game games count, though, Giguere did... Read Full Story
Goaltending seemed to be down the list of the litany of issues the Ducks have had to deal with in their uninspiring start to the season.
Now you can add that to the list after Jean-Sebastien Giguere gave up a backbreaking soft goal by Columbus defenseman Fedor Tyutin with 3:22 remaining that decided the Blue Jackets’ 6-4 victory Saturday night at Honda Center....
“When you go through stretches like we’re going through right now, it seems that when something has a chance to go wrong... Read Full Story
Jean-Sebastien Giguere was 2-1 with a 3.20 goals-against average and .895 save percentage in the preseason.
Jonas Hiller was 1-1 with 2.35 GAA and .926 save percentage.
So Hiller will start on Saturday against San Jose?
Coach Randy Carlyle delivered his familar refrain Friday: “Come to warm-ups.”
And so the goalie guessing game begins with the Ducks, who are falling on their mantra of having 1A and 1B options in net without ever revealing who is A and B.
Hiller and Giguere... Read Full Story

The Anaheim Ducks have reassigned goalie Justin Pogge to the minors, clearing the way for Jean-Sebastien Giguere’s return. Giguere hasn’t played since Oct. 24 while resting a groin injury. Before Giguere was hurt, the former playoff MVP was 0-2-1 with a 3.65 goals-against average while sharing starts with Jonas Hiller, who took the Ducks’ starting job last season from Giguere, the topic… Read Full Story
In their first game with most of their regular lineup, the Ducks took a preseason stride Monday night with a 3-2 victory night against San Jose at Honda Center.
James Wisniewski scored a short-handed goal in the third period for the game winner, and Jean-Sebastien Giguere looked much sharper with a 23-save effort in his second preseason game.
“I think it was a step in the right direction for the whole group,” Giguere said.
“I felt relaxed. I felt in control of my game. But I also... Read Full Story
