Renton – In our series of incremental autopsies of the Seattle Seahawks, it’s time to extract and examine the quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck.

The Seahawks have played themselves onto our slab with a hat-trick of futility – losing their past three games by an historic 82 cumulative points.

 

RENTON – Jim Mora understands why people – fans, media and anybody who has watched the Seattle Seahawks play for the past three games – are questioning the effort level of his team.

Heck, even the Seahawks coach would question it if he were in their shoes.

 

  Don’t blame Matt Hasselbeck for trying too hard. Yeah, he’s thrown eight interceptions in the past two games – both embarrassing losses because of opponent (Tampa Bay) or deficit (38 points to Green Bay). And yes, Hasselbeck’s turnovers (nine total, counting a fumble against the Bucs) are a major reason the Hawks lost those games. But make no mistake: This season was lost well before these last two games. Heck, these losses only help Seattle...  

It hasn’t been quite two years since the Seattle Seahawks last visited Green Bay’s Lambeau Field. Apparently, time flies when you’re getting beaten with monotonous regularity.

The date was Jan. 12, 2008, but the circumstances seem so distant, with so much calamity intervening, that it’s hard to recall that the Seahawks at the time had some fans thinking another Super Bowl trip was a serious possibility.

 

I don't think you can call this Seattle Seahawks team/season a disappointment. No, not when you have started five different players at left tackle, and played stretches without your starting quarterback, as well as losing their best defensive player for the year. Tim Ruskell has resigned as president and general manager of the Seattle Seahawks. Ruskell announced his resignation Thursday, weeks before his five-year contract with the team ends. "Obviously there's great sadness today but I will leave here with great memories of this place and the people. It's been the people for me," Ruskell said during a news conference.
