The Colorado Rockies had a disappointing 2011. After finishing above .500 in both 2009 and 2010, the Rockies fell to 73-89 this past year, fourth in the NL West behind the D'Backs, Giants, and Dodgers. They finished in the top 10 in baseball in runs scored, but their pitching lacked heavily, as they finished 27th in runs allowed. However, the great thing about baseball is that teams can improve drastically from year to year. Last season was a...

Renck, though brief, I'm glad to see your mention of how the front office is basically blaming last year's failure on the players. As if the product on the field doesn't start with the front office. Their blame shifting ways places them more in the category of a weasel than that of a man. O'Dowd blaming the players is like Gisele blaming Brady's receivers for their loss last night. Oh, wait...

Looks like O'Dowd is quietly making some moves that might actually pan out. With Scutaro at 2nd, Blake at third and Hernandez behind the plate we have some seasoned veterans while the "kids" prepare themselves for the big time. I was a little sorry to see Ellis leave but Scutaro is an excellent replacement. I'd also like to see Moyer make the club as he could be the teacher and the inspiration our young pitchers need.

Hernandez is 35 years old and a 13-year veteran, and the Rockies have one of the game's best catching prospects in 22-year-old Wilin Rosario. At this point in his career, Hernandez is no longer an everyday player. He and Rosario will likely split time.
