Every time Poundland let me know they're opening a new store, I just about fall off my seat in amazement. I've fallen off my seat so often recently that I think it's safer if I just stay on the floor. I reckon Poundland are single-handedly bringing the UK out of recession, I really do, and they're opening another three, yes three, new stores this week and they've got some Coronation Street favourites on hand to do the opening honours as follows on Saturday 21st November. Poundland are opening FOUR new stores this Saturday, November 14th, and they've lined up some Coronation Street favourites to do the honours. Antony Cotton (Sean Tully) will be opening the new store in Newtonards, Northern Ireland. Andy Whyment (Kirk Sutherland) will be opening the new store in The Shires Shopping Centre, Trowbridge. Jennie McAlpine (Fiz Stape) will be up in South Shields to open the new store in King’s Street. And Kate Anthony (Aunty Pam) will open the new store in Crawley's Queen’s Square. Jennie McAlpine, who plays Fiz Brown, is quoted saying she'd love her on-screen mum Cilla Battersby-Brown to return to the Street. I think she's got a point and if Cilla returned, she'd give John Stape short shrift, wouldn't she? Watch out, the health police are everywhere. This week, one was even spotted at a cheese counter in Sainsbury’s, where a pregnant woman was only allowed to buy a lump of cheddar if she promised not to eat it. A member of supermarket staff insisted it was “dangerous” for someone in her condition and she was “lucky” her generation was privy to such valuable information.
