Bills Sign CB Jerametrius Butler; Release RB Josh Scobey
Filed under: Bills, AFC East, NFL Free Agency, Buffalo
Due to an overwhelming amount of injuries, the Buffalo Bills were forced to sign free agent cornerback
Jerametrius Butler yesterday.
Butler, a six-year NFL veteran, was released by Washington in August. Prior to joining the Redskins, Butler spent his entire career in St. Louis with the Rams. He started 31 of 65 games played, collecting 162 tackles, nine interceptions and defending 32 passes.
With Jason Webster out for the season and Terrence McGee suffering through a rib injury, there is a good chance that Butler will be called upon to play immediately. However, it’s unlikely that that will be in the starting capacity. Buffalo will most likely continue using Ashton Youboty and Kiwaukee Thomas until McGee returns or Butler becomes more familiar with the system.
In order to make room for Butler, the Bills released running back/special-teamer Josh Scobey.
