First Marquette hired a coach named Buzz. Now the Golden Eagles have become the bald eagles for the NCAA tournament. Marquette players will sport a smooth new look for Friday's first-round game against Utah State, having shaved their heads in a demonstration of team unity this week. The trims came courtesy of leading scorer and unofficial team barber Jerel McNeal, who apparently is as skilled with a pair of clippers as he is with the ball in his hands. "I'm not professional by any stretch — but you know, I do a little somethin'," McNeal bragged. The hair-razing experience — and the good-natured intrasquad ... Read Full Story

The 3rd-seeded Missouri Tigers definitely had their hands full going up against the 6th-seeded Marquette Golden Eagles on Sunday as this was by far the toughest game for the Tigers in this tournament. The Golden Eagles top scorers made their points, as usual; however, it took a bench player for the Tigers - Kim English - to decide the issue; English calmly sank a pair of free throws with only 5.5 seconds left, helping Missouri edge Marquette 83-79 at Boise, ID. Leo Lyons converted a 3-point play for Missouri, giving them a 79-78 lead with 48.7 seconds left in the game after previously trailing ... Read Full Story

Marquette has a plan to get ready for Connecticut's shot-swatting 7-foot-3 center, Hasheem Thabeet, on Wednesday night. But this time around, it doesn't involve the use of giant fake novelty arms. Under then-coach Tom Crean last season, the Golden Eagles practiced with scout team members wearing backpack-like contraptions sprouting long arms that waved back and forth with the pull of a string. "It's like a book bag that you strap on and, it's like, arms go all the way up," forward Lazar Hayward said. "I think they can strap some of those on and it'll be like the UConn lineup. I haven't seen those ... Read Full Story

The words spoken by the Madison native’s father are, to put it lightly, ridiculous.  Known to...

One that seems to have some momentum is the notion that Maymon was offered a starting position on the Marquette men's team but is currently not starting. Was this the case?Only a few people know but there seems little doubt that the Maymons believe that to be the case. In a May 28th article in the Wisconsin State Journal authored by Rob Hernandez...
