From The PCF Club Site on Paul Wylie
There are people you meet in this sport who are just plain special. They are the ones who elevate skating to another level, who share their time and considerable talents to support and promote the sport. Paul Wylie is the epitome of that special person. He is a gentleman - and a gentle man - who, through his personal experiences, triumphs and challenges, has taught many how to endure when the odds are seemingly against you.
This is the wisdom Paul brought to Colorado Springs last week when he spent three full days sharing his knowledge, humor, work ethic and massive talent with Jeremy. Paul and Jeremy are a perfect match and no one understands expectations and pressures better than Paul, whose rollercoaster career was capped off in 1992 with a Silver medal win at the Olympics in Albertville. It was those experiences that drew the two together, thanks to USFS and Jeremy's coach, Tom Zakrajsek, who felt that time with Paul would be time very well spent. It most certainly was!
Working on technique, mental toughness and spirit, Paul showed Jeremy how to be strong - both mentally and physically. As one of the acknowledged best presenters in skating, Paul talked a lot about how the two parts of a performance - the artistic and the technical - have to blend into one moment. It is a concept that is simple to understand and very difficult to achieve. But if Jeremy learned his lessons well, it will show this season. Thank you, Paul, for taking time away from your wife and three children to spend time with us. It was an experience all of us will never forget!
