DENVER (AP)--Freestyle skier Jeremy Bloom has abandoned his comeback try, ending a bid to make the 2010 Olympic team so he can spend more time on his charity work.
The 2002 and 2006 U.S. Olympian said on Wednesday that he was retiring because "the passion that I once had for sports has naturally transitioned into my new ventures." He had announced about a year ago that he would try for his third Olympics.

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback and kick returner Ellis Hobbs is done for the season with a neck injury suffered in Sunday night's loss to Dallas.
Hobbs was placed on injured reserve Wednesday and will require surgery. Eagles coach Andy Reid says the surgery should allow Hobbs to play again.
