Jericho Scott
Jericho Scott is a 9-year-old Connecticut pitcher who was recently disqualified because he was just too good. His team had an 8-0 record, largely due to his pitching skills. Share news and follow this pint-sized baseball prodigy.
Young Pitcher Disqualified for Being Too Good
Children are usually praised for being good at something, not banned from participating. But, for Jericho Scott, a 9-year-old from Connecticut, praise was the last thing he received for his amazing talent.Scott is a pitcher for the youth baseball team Will Power Fitness. The team currently has an 8-0 record, which is mostly a result of Scott's precise pitching skills. But, his pitching is apparently so fast and accurate that the Liga Juvenil De Baseball De New Haven has asked the team's coach to replace him.
Parents in the league have complained about Scott's pitching ability, saying it could frighten the other players. Because of this, Scott has been disqualified.
This may seem a little farfetched, but, if parents are worried about balls, flying at high speeds towards their children, maybe they shouldn't have put their kids in a baseball league.
The pitching phenom's parents say the league wants their son to play for a stronger team, but the Scotts are against it. They claim the league is trying to move their son to a specific team, and that team is sponsored by a local barbershop where the league's president currently works.
Apparently even at a young age, sports are all about politics. The Scotts are planning to meet with an attorney on Monday, and are hoping to get their son back on the field as soon as possible.
"If you keep kids on the field you keep them off the streets," Leroy Scott, the pitcher's father, told a local paper. "I'd rather have him in the midst of this controversy on the field than dealing drugs on a street corner."

Let him play, he is gifted. Are we teaching our kids they should only be mediocre and not to try their best? Is too bad the opposing team forfeited, because that is teaching kids to quit and not even try. What if Tiger Woods was told this when he was Jericho's age? Is too bad this is happening in America.
What a privilege it would be to play against him. Just think if your 9 year old could get a hit off Jericho even after trying many times. It would be something your child would remember and feel proud of for many, many years.
