The Edgerrin James experiment in Seattle is over. The struggling Seahawks cut ties with James on Tuesday, releasing the backup running back who never provided the pop Seattle hoped to get when it signed the 31-year-old in late August. James' release was one of a handful of moves Seattle made two days after a lackluster 38-17 loss that dropped the Seahawks to 2-5.

There is still a chance Walter Jones will play for the Seahawks this season, though that chance is dwindling. Coach Jim Mora said Monday upon Seattle's return from a bye week that the nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle is "iffy" to practice this week. The 35-year-old Jones is trying to return from two surgeries on his left knee since December.

Marcus Trufant will make his season debut for the Seahawks on Sunday at Dallas. Seattle activated the 2007 Pro Bowl cornerback from the physically-unable-to-perform list Friday. Last week was the first time Trufant had practiced since July, when a disk issue in his back began. Coach Jim Mora expects Trufant to play mainly in nickel defensive alignments on passing downs against the Cowboys.

The daughter of Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is recovering after surgery to repair injuries sustained on a family trip to Central Washington over the bye weekend. Hasselbeck posted on his Twitter site Tuesday he had the "worst bye week ever. 6 year old daughter got hit by a dirt bike." The 34-year-old father of three said he spent his weekend at the hospital.
